        <p>My name is Andria, and I&#8217;m a production coordinator for Sharp Entertainment in NYC. We&#8217;re sending a crew up to Portland, ME to film a show for Travel Channel on July 3, 5, and 6, and we&#8217;re looking for 2 - 3 production interns to help.&nbsp; Our internship positions are unpaid, but they would be wonderful for college students or recent graduates who are looking for a quick three days of experience on a popular, fast-paced documentary-style television shoot.
</p>
<p>
Our production interns are going to help with a wide-range of tasks like setting up gear, gathering releases, possibly filming some b-roll, helping to take promotional stills, etc. We will provide our interns lunch every day. There will be absolutely zero obligation on the 4th of July holiday, so this is perfect for a student or recent grad who is going to be grounded in Portland over the Independence Day weekend.
</p>
<p>
If any of your members are interested, they can submit a brief cover letter and resume to me at andria at sharpentertainment dot com.

        <p>The submission period for the 2010 KahBang Film Festival is officially open. Festival organizers are looking for new, cutting edge films of all genres to review for possible admission into the festival’s lineup. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit short or feature length narrative, documentary, and experimental films for consideration.
</p>
<p>
In the spirit of the KahBang Music and Arts Festival of 2009, this year’s addition of film marks the expansion of KahBang into fields other than strictly music while maintaining a strong emphasis on fresh, independent art and expression. This unique expansion strives to create one of the most unique and intimate film festivals in the country, where a convergence of artists, fans, and industry representatives will determine the future independent stars of film.
</p>
<p>
Screening categories include, but are not limited to, Maine on Main (Maine based filmmakers and films), Gen-Next (emerging filmmakers), Perspectives (documentary), and Persistence of Vision (outstanding accomplishments in storytelling). Films will be shown at a number of venues, across the Bangor metropolitan area. Awards include Best Emerging Filmmaker, Best Documentary, Best Short Film, and the KahBang Audience Award for Best Film.
</p>
<p>
The cost of submissions are based on the four separate deadlines, with fees increasing until the final submission deadline of June 7th. Submissions can be made using the form at <a href="http://www.kahbang.com">http://www.kahbang.com</a> or for a discounted rate at <a href="http://www.withoutabox.com">http://www.withoutabox.com</a>. My script is Charlie and Mollie, completes the story that Zlotoff started.&nbsp; I have an outline for the script and could have it ready in about 2 months.&nbsp; It will run approximately 90 minutes.

        <p>Saw this film recently at the Portland MFA.&nbsp; Was a bit long but did a really nice job of telling a great story without too much talking heads.&nbsp; Film maker used interplay between two central characters which is easier to do in fiction but much harder to pull off in docs as it supposed to be &#8220;real&#8221; which is a challenge when you have people wired up and the camera is there.&nbsp; I ended up really being drawn to the characters.

        <p>I will admit to being a little wary of the &#8220;support our troops&#8221; context that goes with the turf of this film.&nbsp; However, I must admit that after watching it on MPBN a bit back, I was glad I got past my preconceived notions and gave it a chance.&nbsp; I really enjoyed it and found that the personalities that were profiled were very endearing and just absolutely enjoyable to watch.&nbsp; Two thumbs up from this viewer.
</p>
<p>
The interesting thing for me was thinking about my own pre-hurdle of overcoming my reluctance to be drawn into a piece that might relate to the politics of the war in Iraq.&nbsp; I believe in supporting our troop even if you are or are not in favor of our efforts, but that whole topic is often globbed up into one political ball, and it put me off.&nbsp; In reality, the film has little to do with that political ball and it left me wondering whether the film makers adequately anticipated this dynamic (though I don&#8217;t pretend to believe that because this was an issue for me it was an issue for everyone) and what impact it had in the distribution of the film.
</p>
<p>
I also struggled with you they would have introduced it differently, because at the end of the day it is what it is, but how to bring people to the true focus of the film?
</p>
<p>
One of those interesting &#8220;I didn&#8217;t think I would like it but I did&#8221; experiences.
