Film Chowdah: The Maine College Film Festival accepting submissions/

Third Annual Maine College Film Festival

Students often lack the advantages of professional filmmakers when it comes to having access to venues to show their work. Across the state, there are so many good films that often go unnoticed for this very reason. It is the mission of Film Chowdah to change this. Film Chowdah aims to create a breeding ground for young talent, by providing students with an outlet to show their work and network within a festival setting. As a further incentive, winning films will move on to other festivals through our partnership program.

Last year’s event included two hours of programming and was shown to nearly 300 people during the screening at the Nickelodeon Cinemas. Our winning films moved on to screenings at The Maine International Film Festival, The Portland, ME Film Festival, The Image Gazer Film Festival and a Best of Film Chowdah travelling exhibit at The Augusta Savage Gallery at UMASS Amherst. With the festival now being open to all schools in Maine, we hope to have a much larger draw and even more fabulous films for the screening.

Submissions

To submit a film, you must be a college student currently enrolled in a minimum of one class within the Maine College System. The deadline for submitting a film is March 30, 2012. Please visit the submission page for all technical specifics.

2012 SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN
Volunteers sought for a film shoot on Vinalhaven island

We are students at Columbia University, shooting a feature in fulfillment of the MFA program. We seek PAs who can work with us in Rockland and/or on the island of Vinalhaven between February 12th and March 7th, 2011. The positions are unpaid, though we can offer delicious meals and an excellent learning experience in a fun yet professional environment. We are hoping to find people whose schedules permit them to work both during the week and on weekends.

Please visit the film’s website here: http://noreasterfilm.com/.

Simply put the film is about faith. It deals with a priest and a family who’s 15 year old son, missing since he was 10, suddenly returns home.

If interested, please contact:
