The Image Gazer Film Festival is coming to Ellsworth!

MFVA Members $15!

Festival details:

August 16 - August 18th 11:00am - 10:00pm
in Downtown Ellsworth, Maine.

Registration Starts August 16 at 9:30am at The Grand

IGFF is seeking all film types from all ages including films made by high school students, featuring full length films, short films, abstract films, fiction and documentary films.

I would like to encourage all of you to attend the KahBANG Music, Art and Film Festival in Bangor beginning this Friday, August 6th.  See www.kahbang.com for details of activities.

The Maine Film & Video Association meeting will take place on Saturday, August 7th 5:30 - 6:30PM at the Bangor Opera House.  As part of KahBANG, this meeting is free and open to everyone.

Bangor’s Kahbang Film Festival accepting submissions

The submission period for the 2010 KahBang Film Festival is officially open. Festival organizers are looking for new, cutting edge films of all genres to review for possible admission into the festival’s lineup. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit short or feature length narrative, documentary, and experimental films for consideration.

Join Us - March 6 - MFVA Meeting!

The next meeting of the Maine Film & Video Association is 5:00PM Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the new Maine Studios, 235 Presumpscot St., Portland, ME, and features ROUGH CUT screenings of two or three excerpts of projects/trailers of some of Maine’s most active professionals before a panel of festival and distribution experts and an audience of your peers.

All are welcome.  Free for members; $7 for non-members.  Included in the admission price are free drinks, including beer and wine, and pizza.

Another MFVA member’s work on MPBN!

Continuing MFVA’s commitment to bring our member’s work to a greater audience.....

MPBN features Internationally Challenged Traveler Bruce McToose, who, in a search of Scandinavian Fjords, ends up in Norway Maine.

The adventures of Bruce McToose, the fictional “Celebrity.  Traveler and Explorer”, is the subject of “The Norway Show”, to be featured on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network new series “Maine Community Film Collaboration.

Josh Hrehovcik portrays the fictional character Bruce McToose, the celebrated traveler and explorer, on his search for the famous fjords of Norway. In “The Norway Show”, to be aired on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network in February, Bruce McToose is about to learn he is visiting the city of Norway, Maine - not the Scandinavian country, Norway

Broadcast opportunity for MFVA members

Calling all MFVA members! Maine Film & Video Association is seeking submissions of independent films and videos, with a regional (preferably Maine) focus. This work will be broadcast on MPBN (Maine’s public television station).  The projects need to be fairly recent, of broadcast quality and non-commercial. Genres can include documentaries, fiction, educational, animation and event coverage.  This offer is available to MFVA members and submissions need to go directly to MFVA.  This is a great opportunity to expand your audience and bring in new revenue through broadcast sponsorship.
