Calling all MFVA members! Maine Film & Video Association is seeking submissions of independent films and videos, with a regional (preferably Maine) focus. This work will be broadcast on MPBN (Maine’s public television station). The projects need to be fairly recent, of broadcast quality and non-commercial. Genres can include documentaries, fiction, educational, animation and event coverage. This offer is available to MFVA members and submissions need to go directly to MFVA. This is a great opportunity to expand your audience and bring in new revenue through broadcast sponsorship.
Charles Beck, the VP director of radio and television at MPBN sees this a great opportunity to supplement their current programming while helping support Maine film and video producers.
“The MPBN Community Film Collaboration is part of our strategic plan”, says Beck, “and is our way to reach out to talented filmmakers in our community who are documenting our region with their productions, and share these with our viewers”.
Beck acknowledges that MPBN cannot provide the continuing infrastructure needed to seek out and screen every new piece of work. Recognizing that MFVA members are engaged in creating quality projects, Beck hopes to tap into some of that talent.
“We are extremely pleased to be working with an established organization like the Maine Film & Video Association to move this effort forward. Their membership and diverse quality repertoire of past and upcoming Maine and regional productions, and our airwaves as a significant statewide platform for showcasing their work, should make for a perfect match for both of us!”
This exciting collaboration offers MFVA members an opportunity to bring their work to a state-wide audience. In addition, producers can bring in new revenue through acquiring broadcast sponsorship. For MPBN viewers the benefit is having a regular flow of educational and entertaining programs, based right here in our backyard. In Charles Beck’s words:
“It’s a win, win, win situation.”
