Taught by indie filmmakers Kate Kaminski & Betsy Carson, this intensive 2-part weekend workshop provides the experience of creating a film performance while revealing the secrets of how to best make the filmmaking process work for the actor.
Saturday session - 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm
Scenes are worked - actors are sent off to rehearse and prepare for the longer Sunday session.
Sunday session - 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Scenes are shot & reviewed.
Workshop Objectives:
•To learn the difference between what’s critical to establish in rehearsal for film and what can’t be established in a film rehearsal.
•To focus on rigorous, text-based scene work chosen from contemporary American film (and occasionally theater).
•To gain an understanding of the importance of absolute personal honesty in this medium.
•To gain an understanding of how to work freely within the pressures and restrictions of the shooting environment.
Appropriate for actors at all levels. Enrollment is limited, so register early to hold your place.

SCREENPLAY STUDY FOR ACTORS

2 great afternoons, 3 great scripts. An intensive weekend workshop taught by writer-director Kate Kaminski devoted to the study of the screenplay from an actor’s perspective. Open to actors of all levels. $125 (payable by check or credit card via Paypal).
Saturday session - 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm
Sunday session - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
CLASS DETAILS:
•Everyone is assigned three scripts. You print them, read them, and bring them with you.
•Together we work through the scripts, round-table style. I guide you through what makes each a strong screenplay, especially for the actor.
•No scene partner rehearsal, no lines to memorize; this is a weekend devoted to giving you the tools you need to get past the words and see the “skeleton” of the script, so you can pull a scene apart and make your own acting stronger.
