The Independent Film Festival of Boston
April 22-28

The 7th annual Independent Film Festival of Boston is upon us and it’s packed with close to a 100 great films. Among the attractions are a number of great documentaries by New England filmmakers including Filmmakers Collaborative’s own Laura Longsworth. Come support our local filmmakers:

· Aron Gaudet and Gita Pillapully’s THE WAY WE GET BY,
· Gerry Peary and Amy Geller’s FOR THE LOVE OF MOVIES,
· Bestor Cram’s JOHNNY CASH AT FOLSOM PRISON,
· Amy Grill and David Day’s SPEAKING IN CODE,
· George Kachadorian’s SHOOTING BEAUTY,
· Al Ward’s BLOOD, SWEAT & CHEERS,
· FC member Laura Longsworth’s LUCKEY,
· Ian McFarland & Anthony Moreschi’s CHIP ON MY SHOULDER, and
· Jonathan Hock’s THE LOST SON OF HAVANA.

All of these will be the Boston-area premieres for these films and in some cases, the World Premieres. The directors of every one of these films will be on hand for a Q&A.

There are also a number of non-local prominent documentarians with new films at IFFBoston this year, from Joe Berlinger’s (BROTHER’S KEEPER, METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER) new film CRUDE, to Doug Pray’s (HYPE!, SCRATCH) film on the advertising world, ART & COPY, to Ondi Timoner’s (DIG!) Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning WE LIVE IN PUBLIC, and the D-Word’s Ben Kempas’s new film UPSTREAM BATTLE.

There are also a great many narrative features including Andrew Bujalski’s BEESWAX, Robert Siegel’s (writer of THE WRESTLER) directorial debut BIG FAN, Olivier Assayas’s new french masterpiece SUMMER HOURS, and Cory McAbee’s (THE AMERICAN ASTRONAUT) sci-fi/western/musical oddity STINGRAY SAM.
